Actor John Ducey plays a man who exits an elevator, laughing at a conversation he seemingly just had with director J.J. Abrams and author Stephen King. The man introduces himself as a Hulu representative and begins highlighting all of the shows available to subscribers such as "South Park," "Brooklyn Nine-Nine" and "Seinfeld." He also informs actress Mindy Kaling that Hulu brought back her show "The Mindy Project." Eventually, he runs out of fake hallways to run through, and the whole setting is revealed to be a large set on a Hollywood backlot. The man jumps into a vehicle driven by actor Andy Samberg, who steps on the pedal and cruises away. As they drive, they pass actor Neil Patrick Harris in front of a vanity. Suddenly, Andy Samberg does a barrel roll out of the vehicle, which goes crashing through an arm of the backlot gate. Actor Anthony Anderson looks on confusedly as Samberg picks himself up and gives actress Taraji P. Henson her cue to raise a Hulu flag.

iSpot Review - October 30, 2015

In this 60-second commercial for Hulu, star power reigns supreme as cameos from Andy Samberg, Anthony Anderson, Neil Patrick Harris and Taraji P. Henson are made. All celebrities are a part, if not, the focal point of their television shows that air on national networks. Mindy Kaling makes a cameo as well, but Mindy's is a bit different from the others. Cancelled after three seasons on FOX, fans voiced their displeasure and tweeted to Hulu to pick the show up, which they did. Not only did they pick up a show and its fan base, but Hulu cleverly lets viewers know that they pay attention to their customers, with results.

This commercial for Hulu and its announcement of commercial-free streaming couldn't have come at a better time. Large, direct competitors that also feature subscription-based, streaming services such as Netflix, Amazon Prime and the newly formed YouTube Red have all become invested towards capturing the growing number of cable cutters. It'll be interesting to see where cable cutters choose to spend their money to view the content they want from here on out.
