iSpot Review — July 8, 2015

I don't know that rooster, and I don't know what he's all excited about, but he and his pals seem like a fun gang. I want to hang with them.

That's what SuperCell hopes viewers think after watching this commercial.

Tapping into creative goodwill from mega-hit Clash of Clans, and acting as a bridge to the now booming Boom Beach, Hay Day gives viewers of this TV commercial an attractive animated scene and hints at character, but isn't as effective at suggesting gameplay or objectives.

These shortcoming makes it harder for the product itself to shine at the close, as many a viewer might be left wondering what kind of app he's getting in Hay Day. The ad succeeds in carrying the broader SuperCell campaign themes in its clear creative lineage with Clash of Clans and Boom Beach. This alone, makes it noteworthy for advertising geeks. The opportunities to watch for going forward will be to see how the agency can craft this creative with more product focus.
