About Fiber One TV Commercial, 'Don't Fight Your Instincts'

A couple of sharks are swimming along when Steve thinks he saw his dessert swim by. The other shark tells him he doesn't need it because he just had a big lunch, to which Steve shakes his head... even when he suddenly burps up a pair of goggles. He then swims over to the "dessert," asking the little fish if he wants to be eaten, but his wife insists he didn't really say that. Steve counters by saying that he did -- she just couldn't hear it from all the way back there. With Fiber One, you don't have to fight your instincts. Their chocolaty brownies, tangy lemon bars and creamy cheesecakes only have 150 calories or less.

iSpot Review — July 2, 2015

If you're thirsty, you should drink something. If you have an itch, you should scratch it. So if you're hungry, why wait and get grumpier by the minute when you could easily solve this dilemma by eating something? Fiber One dessert bars are 150 calories or less and come in tasty flavors like chocolate brownie, tangy lemon and cheesecake. But if you're a great white shark, eating is just an instinct when you're an apex predator of the seas. So why fight it when that's just what you inherently do?

Fiber One drops this 30-second ad that resembles a scene similar from the Pixar film, Finding Nemo. A pair of sharks go for a swim after eating lunch when one of the sharks, Steve, spots a small, yellow fish swimming off in the distance. Seeing how a tasty dessert is just drifting freely in the ocean, he gets reminded from his shark-wife about how he just had a big lunch. After a little protest, Steve burps up the goggles that belonged to his lunch and swims off to greet his dessert where he is told, "Steven, stay strong!" After trying to convince himself that his dessert wants to be eaten and a little opposition from his shark-wife, Steve sighs as he gives up on his quest for dessert. Poor Steve, you can't fault him for doing what he was designed to do, it's instinctual.
