Tootsie the Musical uses quotes from critics to introduce the "smart, sparkling, priceless" actor Michael Dorsey. Although Michael gets "huge laughs" he can't seem to get a job. When he gets an audition for the funniest show of the season, he dresses up as a woman named Dorothy Michaels to get the part. Critics are calling the show one of the best performances seen on a musical stage, which is why it's been nominated for 11 Tony Awards.
