Dr. Jennifer Shu, a pediatrician, volunteers advice on how to put a baby down at bedtime. Instead of waiting until the child is already asleep, she suggests putting the baby into its crib when he or she is drowsy but not sleeping as it may help the child learn to fall asleep in bed. As a caveat, she also reminds parents to remove anything from the bed that might impede breathing, such as blankets or pillows.
