Upfronts: Fox Networks

FOX NETWORKS: FOX, FOX News, FOX Sports 1, FX, FXM, FXX, National Geographic, & Nat Geo Wild

After last season’s experiment to eschew the traditional pilot process for straight-to-series pickup, Fox Networks is going back to the traditional model. Backing that is a focus on big names and comedy. Rob Lowe and John Stamos are both carrying their respective new shows on the network.

Meanwhile Fox News is laying its viewing bets on the runup to the 2016 presidential election, with an unspecified focus on live events and pre-election coverage. In particular, Fox is taking aim at the morning news program slot to compete with the likes of “Good Morning America” and “Today.”

Meanwhile in sports, Fox’s acquisition of the rights to the U.S. Open means more golf ads across all Fox properties, both for the Open and other tournaments Fox will air, as well as for the game of golf in general funded by the USGA.

But what’s really worth watching is how the consolidation of Fox’s cable and broadcast ad unites, with the subsequent layoffs that occurred, will impact its advertising strategy across the board.

Overview:
In the last 12 months, FOX has run ads for 1,606 brands across over 94k commercials.

This year alone FOX has aired commercials for 1,106 brands with 30,013 commercials.
