GE 2009 Super Bowl Commercial, If I Only Had a Brain

This General Electric ad that aired during Super Bowl XLIII on Feb. 1, 2009 features the Scarecrow from the movie “The Wizard of Oz.” Scarecrow is seen dancing around a transmission tower while he sings the song by Yip Harburg, “If I Only Had a Brain.” This is the same song that Scarecrow sings in the 1939 film. At the end of the commercial, he is seen walking down a brick road. General Electric embodies both the character and song from “The Wizard of Oz” as the company proposes Smart Grid Technology that will update the efficiency of electrical distribution by simply making it more intelligent.
