On the other hand, digital video and cross-platform TV advertising, specifically as a measurement discipline, do not have that legacy. Nevertheless, more and more advertisers are flocking to streaming video as an effective, efficient way to reach and convert new audiences. But how is measurement evolving with the surge in streaming?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p style=\"font-size:18px\">A recent <a href=\"https:\/\/www.advertiserperceptions.com\/ctv-keeps-tv-networks-a-priority-in-expanding-video-landscape\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Advertiser Perceptions<\/a> study of 356 US national advertisers who were 100% involved in video advertising decision-making uncovered significant challenges that stem from OTT\u2019s lack of legacy:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/lh5.googleusercontent.com\/by2cQqy4cpE33_XoymOrzrvHpb42DPJ64uziyDh0VmIm-mSp9AoS9PCJcTyuiodZ7sgws7UbRWYk2Yw04P4QYmvkG_RyHESYeC8SXJ7VmCsyxhSy403nMAkVBXhDGTRGoBjZzq1x\" alt=\"\" width=\"743\" height=\"273\"\/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p style=\"font-size:18px\"><strong>These measurement challenges are<em> exacerbated<\/em> when it comes to local OTT advertising.<\/strong> While OTT ad campaigns are often perceived at a national level, the more uncharted territory of <em>local <\/em>OTT advertising within the premium video landscape is ripe for utilization by a broad spectrum of advertisers. However, local campaigns are rather nuanced with many different targeting and measurement variables, which requires local expertise to manage and further compound the already complicated measurement process.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-color\" style=\"color:#77bd22;font-size:30px\">Local-level OTT Measurement Done Right Requires Accuracy and Precision at Scale<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p style=\"font-size:18px\">In a recent webinar, SVP of Partnerships at iSpot, Stu Schwartzapfel and VP of Analytics at Gamut, Traci Will, shared an insider perspective on how the two companies have teamed up to offer a better way to measure local OTT ad campaigns at scale. Gamut, the leader in local OTT, partnered with iSpot in late 2020 to help Gamut Total\u00ae advertisers uncover the true incremental reach of their OTT campaigns. In the first year, iSpot measured 2.2B+ impressions, 400+ unique advertisers and 3,000+ Gamut Total\u00ae campaigns. Among the billions of impressions measured in this time period, roughly <strong>70% of the OTT ads were not also displayed on a TV.<\/strong>\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-pullquote\"><blockquote><p><strong><em>\u201cWe have over 3 thousand campaigns measured with household reach and frequency and now that we&#8217;re expanding into in-store visits we have over 500 million impressions that we&#8217;re measuring. We are doing this at a massive scale. The first thing that we do when we&#8217;re vetting a vendor is ask them how they do local and this is a great example of how local is done well.\u201d<\/em><\/strong><\/p><cite><strong>&#8211; Traci Will, VP of Analytics at Gamut<\/strong><\/cite><\/blockquote><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-color\" style=\"color:#77bd22;font-size:39px\"><strong>Year one snapshot of iSpot and Gamut partnership:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/lh4.googleusercontent.com\/VUMVz3uDwaz22g2ROwUiUiMe8CH7aNTCAl1pHgmv0L0-MzaIN9CqNksuFPQY2qHIBM0DCere_UdYgR4y-FIETrQJ4pHb7IjyJFlpSvOldnAbulDZLZnNc7KSNpA-qfF8rQ4v7jzN\" alt=\"\" width=\"618\" height=\"173\"\/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p style=\"font-size:18px\">Now, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ispot.tv\/hub\/gamut-expands-use-of-ispot-with-new-foot-traffic-attribution-capability\/\">iSpot and Gamut have expanded their partnership<\/a> to also include foot traffic attribution. This extra layer of complexity makes it all the more critical to correctly match linear and OTT impressions to Gamut Total\u00ae ads. Once the impressions are matched, store visits are then precisely mapped to the linear and\/or OTT impressions using IP address as the matchkey. Both of the highlighted advertisers &#8212; a QSR chain and grocery store chain &#8212; had the goal of driving incremental foot traffic via Gamut Total\u00ae OTT ads. The following is a summary of the two case studies presented.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-color\" style=\"color:#77bd22;font-size:25px\"><strong>Case Study 1<\/strong><strong>&nbsp;<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p style=\"font-size:18px\"><strong>Objective: <\/strong>A QSR chain wanted to drive an increase in store visitation to locations in key US markets.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p style=\"font-size:18px\"><strong>Solution: <\/strong>Gamut developed a campaign strategy, targeting QSR intenders &#8211; ages 18-49 &#8211; and used Long Form FEP Video to reach the target audience. Through the expanded partnership with iSpot, they were able to create a benchmarking strategy and attribute foot traffic to the physical QSR locations.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p style=\"font-size:18px\"><strong>Results: <\/strong>The campaign resulted in an <strong>OTT conversion rate which was 20% higher than the client\u2019s peers<\/strong> in the QSR category, and<strong> 91% higher than the all-category benchmark<\/strong>.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/lh5.googleusercontent.com\/SvQRPnrl9WBXx-GI3cavN9_zGtm92QB-z6aNwqTXCirdN9B2U4xdd34PyXo1PSx7elsMfSS4AKWo-3le7otfjL0RG5wOwRsqkDRWGDPVg7C6HUbdzxhsLfXbTpp0uKYwy3izYwRN\" alt=\"\" width=\"614\" height=\"514\"\/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p style=\"font-size:18px\"><strong>Other findings: <\/strong>Additionally, iSpot measurement illuminated an optimal OTT frequency of 14 for the QSR client\u2019s campaign to drive conversions. That is to say, on average, it took about 14 impressions for the campaign to drive a user into the store &#8212; a key insight that will help the QSR client with future planning and campaign optimization.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:26px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<div class=\"video-container\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"iSpot and Gamut - Clip 4\" width=\"640\" height=\"360\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/afKAsT_4uS0?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer;
