So which brands won?<\/p>\n<p>\u201cPepsi and Samsung were the clear winners for Oscar buzz around advertising,\u201d says iSpot.tv founder and CEO Sean Muller. \u201cPepsi employed a Super Bowl-like strategy leading up to the Oscars, which paid dividends in terms of social buzz and generating millions of video views during the broadcast. Samsung chose to premiere new commercials and rely on clever show integration to get people talking. Google, Cadillac and Snickers all performed well by using surprise and, in some cases, controversy to get people talking.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>According to iSpot.tv\u2019s comprehensive data, these are the top 5 brands that have generated the most digital activity for their TV commercials during the Oscars and all Oscars-related broadcasts, including the red-carpet coverage, through noon EST on Monday, March 3, as ranked by SpotShare (iSpot.tv\u2019s measure of overall digital activity as weighted by action, including search, social actions including tweets and Facebook comments, video views, etc.):<\/p>\n<p>Pepsi: 30.319<\/p>\n<div>\n<p>Samsung: 8.028<\/p>\n<p>Google: 7.404<\/p>\n<p>Cadillac: 6.511<\/p>\n<p>Snickers: 6.445<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>The top five brands that generated the most social activity just <em>during<\/em> the Oscars broadcast were, in order: Samsung, Pepsi, Google, Snickers and Cadillac. Samsung didn\u2019t release its spots on YouTube, which helps explains why Pepsi, which <em>did<\/em> release its spots on YouTube, was able to gain the upper hand in our overall ranking.
