Rio Update: The Top 5 Brands Spending Big on Olympic TV Ads Through August 17

Last week we showed you the brands that are spending big on Olympics programming, plus the ads with the most spend; today we’re updating that list as the games near the finish line.

Automakers still top the chart, but Chevrolet (3.6%) has surpassed BMW (3.3%) for the brand with the highest estimated spend. GEICO comes in second (3.5%) while Samsung Mobile (3.1%) and VISA (2.7%) finish out the ranking.

Looking at individual commercials, Chevrolet’s “Up: Camaro, Equinox, Malibu, Silverado HD” continues to hold first place with the highest estimated spend (2.23%), but Dick’s Sporting Goods has surpassed VISA to take second place, while Samsung Mobile and McDonald’s also swap in the ranking.
