About Jordan TV Commercial, 'The Dunk to End All Dunks' Featuring Blake Griffin

In the new Jordan commercial directed by Jon Favreau, Blake Griffin of the Los Angeles Clippers and Marvin the Martian have an ultimate showdown on the basketball court. As the crowd gathers on the bleachers, the two opponents have a dunk contest where Marvin undeniably beats Griffin. However, just when Blake thinks he'll be walking off the court as a loser, Bugs Bunny shows up with the ultimate weapon: the Jordan Super.Fly 4 shoes. Now, Blake is ready as he skyrockets into outer space and shoots back down right into the hoop. After that, Bugs launches Marvin on an unforgettable ride for himself.

iSpot Review — August 11, 2015

The Jordan Brand and Warner Brothers teamed up to bring you Jordan's new shoe, the Super.Fly 4. Blake Griffin, Power Forward for the Los Angeles Clippers stars alongside his sidekick, Dr. Drain. The two have been paired up in Jordan ads ever since the two met in the Dr. Drain commercial to launch the Super.Fly 2 shoe. By pairing the two together, we're given a comedic sidekick to throw lob passes up for Griffin to dunk, who is known for doing this regularly with Clippers teammate, Chris Paul. So when Griffin challenges Marvin to a dunk contest, viewers know what to expect.

The commercial is well done and has the feel of a short film. It almost follows the original Space Jam by the hero being saved by something, shoes in this instance, but gives Blake Griffin his own claim by letting him dunk from the opposite free-throw line. Michael Jordan won the 1988 NBA Dunk Contest by dunking from the free-throw line.

This isn't the first time Jordan worked with Warner Brothers. Back in 1996, Michael Jordan starred in Space Jam with the Warner Brothers cartoon world populace. Although Marvin the Martian plays the role of villain in this two-minute commercial, Bugs Bunny does make a brief appearance to give our hero the shoes he needs to save the planet in this possible teaser for Space Jam 2.
