About Budweiser TV Commercial, 'Global Be(er) Responsible Day: Friends Are Waiting'

When dog owners go out with friends and Budweiser, some dogs may end up waiting forever for the owners to come back. Other dogs, like this one, only have to wait through the night.

Continuing a long tradition of dogs in beer commercials, Budweiser again looks to puppy power to persuade us.

The message isn't to sell beer as much as it is to remember your loved ones, so you get home safely after drinking.

The power of the pooch can't be denied, but in this case, the ad works particularly well because of the emotional hook the soundtrack establishes within the story.

"When You Come Home," by Dan Rodriquez, is a heartfelt and hopeful track that matches the heartfelt and hopeful dog who awaits a long overdue owner. The tune magically draws viewers into the inner emotional life of the puppy, so that the morning payoff when the owner finally returns matches the music's triumphant crescendo.

The power of those moments opens our hearts for the drink responsibly message to resonate long after the music fades and the ad cuts to black. We're left to think about our choices and our friends. That's a testament to the team behind this commercial.
